Gjorgje Jovanovik
I have graduated at the Faculty of Fine Arts, St. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje in 2003. Through my work I’ve been working on different project which enable me to have alternative forms of education and organization. I’ve been part of many civic and art initiatives including the initiative "I love GTC" (2013-15), for saving the original structure of the City Shopping Center in Skopje from Baroque-style facade interventions.
Urban Art Actions (2015- present time) which initiated a new wave of artistic and citizen interventions about problematic issues and places in the urban landscape. The goal of this initiative is to make issues visible and thus make them the topic of public discussion, among citizens, in the media and in the political arena.
Kooperacija- art initiative (2012-2015) Self-financed informal collective, which main objectives were to produce and promote critical art in an alternative way as a reaction to the political situation and the stifled state of the cultural institutions in Macedonia. (openspace-zkp.org)
"Deschooling Classroom" from 2009 till 2012 as a member of the first generation from 2009-10 and as a coordinator of the second generation from 20010-12. This is a project that addresses the contemporary independent cultural scenes in the region, researching and offering an alternative to the hierarchical models of education in the art and culture.
Many of my recent activities are connected to the main goals to the Reshape project, so with my participation in this project I would like to learn more about developing transnational and experimental tools for supporting contemporary art practices and share my experience with the other participants.
